Vulnerability scanning is a critical component of all successful security programs and is required for all merchants accepting credit card payments. These scans look for security holes in your external network, providing early identification of security flaws to allow your company to react quickly, close security holes, and help prevent attacks and data compromises.

Requirements
Regular vulnerability scanning is required for all level Merchants and Service Providers as defined in section 11 of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS).
